As a result of a vision in a meditative state in a Himalayan valley, Gill Dransfield has conducted the proving of Spectrum. Here is an excerpt from her introduction:
One of the daunting things about a proving is how complete the experience is, how inner and outer realities merge. Sometimes it becomes too much and we want to stop. Spectrum, like a number of recent provings - Plutonium for one - has been difficult to antidote. Coffee aggravated, and giving constitutional rx. seemed to take down the intensity, but it was still felt to be lurking in the background. Provers began to believe that they really were very ill; some believed this was terminal. This is the nature of the proving which has a picture of a very lowered vital force, an inability to throw off symptoms, indicative of a weakened immune system, a picture that is becoming more prevalant among today's population.
Without Light there is no life. All higher life forms depend upon light. Plant life, which forms the basis of our food chain, photosyntheses light and stores it in the cells... Mankind has recognized since time began that sunlight is vital to our health and well being; yet modern man is now being warned to keep out of the sun. We work in offices with artificial lighting and are depriving ourselves of natural full spectrum light, and in the proving we can see the result.
This is just a taste of the nature of the book, where questions are raised about the very essence of our existence. Without light we cannot survive, and the symptoms that arise from the provings provide a fascinating insight into this fundamental issue, one that is becoming more relevant as we continue to choose more synthetic ways of life.
